She is hanging on to this foal so far. A sleepless night for nothing

A couple photos from last night

"If I grab this chain and lift it....."

Guess who got comfy in her stall watching over her

And also helping her to clean up oats she spilled on the floor

And a couple of her from today out in the round pen

Guess who again

Hopefully tonight.

I would like to congratulate Doc for going out with a bang. Sunset Marchadors last foal is a colt! Perlino and a good possibility of dun!! He does have a dorsal but I will be able to tell better after he is dry. I just missed the birth by minutes  He was born just shortly after midnight. He is healthy, has been getting up on his own (I helped him the first couple times) and has fed from mom a couple times. It looks like Doc had an easy delivery, didn't even look like she broke a sweat.

WAY TO GO DOC!!!!

Here is the new boy

Some dry pics.

Loki has given his official seal of approval with a kiss on the muzzle.

congrats to Doc and to you too Pat. Doc has obviously decided no point in carrying babies any longer than necessary.

Thank you all!

Now, does anyone know how I could convince Dave to let me keep this little fella? I mean, after all he is the last foal we will be having, that makes him special.

Oh, you can't sell your last foal. I still have mine - it's a reminder of all those years and a memory of all those broodmares and babies. Probably all former breeders get nostalgic every Spring...

This year isn't bad as we had one foal. Next year is going to be tough and every year after that with no foals.
